SCI-Arc Students particpate: 2 x 8 Motion Exhibit
The American Institute of Architects Los Angeles is pleased to announce the opening of 2x8: Motion, on Saturday, March 5th, at the A+D Museum. 2x8 is an annual exhibition sponsored by the AIA/LA, showcasing exemplary student work from local architecture and design institutions throughout the Los Angeles region. Celebrating the unequaled diversity in pedagogical directions, each of the twelve participating academic programs select two projects that exemplify its core vision. Through this important exhibition, we hope to forge an invaluable link between this emerging talent and the professional world, giving rise to significant collaborations and alliances vital to the improvement of our built environment.
This year's third annual 2x8 exhibition is entitled Motion. Open to many interpretations, Motion encompasses the wide variety of processes and pedagogies these institutions offer. Each of the participating institutions is given the freedom to utilize, define or manipulate the phrase as it wishes, creating a remarkable range of ideas and imagery illustrated in the selected projects. In addition to these presentations, student-run forums at the museum will extend a critical discourse on design and its impact in the local and global community.
The 2x8:Motion opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 2005, at the A+D Museum, from 6 PM to 9 PM. This exhibition will be open until Monday, April 4, 2005. The A+D Museum is located on the ground floor of 8560 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Museum hours are Monday through Saturday are 10am-6pm, and Noon-6pm on Sundays.
