LECTURES: Tue, November 20, 2012
Faculty member David Bergman, a co-coordinator of SCI-Arcís Future Initiatives city design, planning and policy post-graduate program, will lecture next Monday, November 26 at the Sofia Architecture Week, an annual international festival of architecture held in Bulgaria.
In an era of decreasing public resources and ubiquitous indifference, Bergmanís lecture tackles the importance of (re)producing urban public space, and the prospects for urban space development in the modern city, using the situation of Los Angeles as an example.
As principal of MR+E, a Los Angeles based consulting firm focused on economic analysis related to urban planning, Bergman has participated in a broad range of economic development and planning projects. In particular, he has worked intensively on issues surrounding the formation of urban and regional development strategies and the role of culture industries in economic development. His work at SCI-Arc focuses on project implementation and urban scale issues.
In addition to broad range city projects in the US and Canada, Bergman has completed projects in Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and Guatemala.
