Heather Townsend is a career Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State. A member of the Senior Foreign Service, she has served in Manila, Bangkok, Sarajevo, Bratislava, and twice in Moscow, as well as in several domestic assignments in Washington, D.C. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations. She has a B.A. from Yale in Russian and East European Studies, and an M.A. from the University of Michigan in the same subject.
Casey Jones is Director of Design Excellence at the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations and the U.S. General Services Administration, where he is responsible for fostering excellence in federally commissioned architecture and design at home and abroad. Recruited by the Department of State in January 2012, he is currently assisting the Department in the creation of a design excellence program, restructuring the agency’s policies and procedures to ensure better, more enduring buildings.
