Siegal to Speak at Goethe-Institut May 6

SCI-Arc alumna Jennifer Siegal (M.Arch '94) will be a guest lecturer on Thursday, May 6, at the Goethe-Institut in Los Angeles for the series "Rethinking the City." Responding to Siegal will be architecture writer Allison Arieff of San Francisco.

The event, which begins at 7 p.m., is part of a year-long series of discussions on mobility, transportation and urban planning presented and produced by the Goethe-Institut.

Siegal, founder of the Los Angeles-based firm Office of Mobile Design (OMD), has specialized in design of manufactured housing. She was a Loeb Fellow at Harvard University and the inaugural Julius Schulman Institute Fellow at Woodbury University in CA. She is the author of Mobile: The Art of Portable Architecture, More Mobile: Portable Architecture for Today, and was the founding editor of Materials Monthly.

Arieff writes about architecture, design and sustainability for the New York Times and GOOD, and is Refresh Project Ambassador for Food & Shelter. She is the former Editor in Chief of Dwell and author of the books Prefab and Trailer Travel: A Visual History of Mobile America.
