Faculty member Herwig Baumgartner and fellow partner Scott Uriu of BplusU will lecture at UCLA on Thursday, June 17, as part of the Digital Practice Series 2010 organized by the Los Angeles Design and Technology Forum. Their lecture, Digital:Physical, starts at 7pm in the Perloff Hall.
Baumgartner and Uriu will present their firm's work on projects including the Taipei Performing Arts Center in Taiwan and City Futura in Milan (shown here), the latter currently on view at the MilanoStadtKrone2030 (MSK) exhibition.
Commissioned by the Architectural and Urban Forum of Milan, with support from Milan City Hall, the MSK exhibition includes proposals by 15 international architecture studios offering conceptual solutions for the densification of Milan on the periphery of the historic city center. Each proposal injects 25,000 inhabitants into the existing fabric of Milan for a total population increase of 300,000. The MSK exhibition is on view through June 30 at the Milan Polytechnic University. More about the exhibition >>
BplusU's work will be exhibited at the 12th Venice Architecture Biennale starting late August.
