Inside SCI-Arc

Pet-friendly Store by RA-DA Makes Tracks

The Animal Wellness Center in Santa Monica designed by RA-DA, the firm of SCI-Arc alumna Rania Alomar (M.Arch '97), was featured in LA Times and Angeleno Interiors. The 2,000-square-foot pet supply store located on Main Street displays a split-level d├ęcor: from 3 feet down, the interior is created to appeal to dogs, while above 3 feet, the shop appeals to the health- and design-conscious animal owner.

Among current projects, RA-DA is working on a 64,000-square-foot South Los Angeles dog shelter, the city's biggest animal shelter, which will house 225 dogs in outdoor kennels overlooking native-planted gardens.

Alomar's team at RA-DA includes alumni Sofia Ames (M.Arch '97), project manager, and Jesse Madrid (B.Arch '08), designer, as well as designer Carolyn Telgard.
