Faculty Member Herwig Baumgartner Lectures at the MAK Center

SCI-Arc faculty member and BplusU principal Herwig Baumgartner, together with partner Scott Uriu, will lecture at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture at the Schindler House on Thursday, October 28, starting 7:30pm, as part of the Fall 2010 Out There Doing It lecture series hosted by the LA Forum.

Their lecture, In Media Res, will be followed by a response from and discussion with Stephen Phillips, AIA, Ph.D., who coordinates the Los Angeles Metro Program in Architecture and Urban Design at Cal Poly.

BplusU has worked on projects nationwide and abroad and is currently working on a variety of projects including City Futura—an urban development project for Milan, Italy (2030); a housing development in the United Arab Emirates; Soundcloud—an event structure in Downtown Los Angeles; the recently completed Frank/Kim residence in Pasadena (shown here) and other. Their work was recently exhibited at the 12th Architecture Biennale in Venice, the A+D museum in Los Angeles, the Milan Stadtkrone show, in Milan, Italy; the University of Applied Arts in Vienna; and at the CCRD in Hollywood, California.

The firm's work has been widely published in magazines and books, including the recently released first monograph of their work, Vectorfields.
