Alumni Lisa Little (M. Arch 2 '06) and Emily White (M. Arch '06) of design office Layer will showcase the group installation Fat Fringe at the Fix Gallery (1728 W. Pico Blvd) on Thursday, March 11, 6 to 11pm. White teaches visual studies and design studio at SCI-Arc.
The Fat Fringe, a die-cut paper canopy, was developed by participants in a series of weekend workshops led by Little and White and organized by Silver Lake non-profit Materials & Applications. Through slicing, punching, and folding, paper enthusiasts spent two weekends transforming sheets of paper into a species of beautiful 3D forms. The goal of the project was to explore techniques for large scale, high volume paper or thin-sheet cutting.
The gallery entrance is located at S. Burlington Ave. Read more >>
