Angeleno Features Alum Advocate for an Artist-friendly Inglewood

Alum Chris Mercier (M.Arch2 '91) and partner Douglas Pierson of Inglewood-based (fer)Studio are featured in the March 2010 issue of Angeleno.

The two architects spent the past three years working with Inglewood city planners to change zoning laws and allow artists to transform the city's vacated commercial structures and abandoned compounds into studios, galleries and lofts. So far, city zoning laws have prohibited live/work arrangements, but the situation is expected to change soon, with a new city ordinance going into effect this summer.

(fer)Studio's recent work includes Culver City's Father's Office, the Alessi Gallery in West Hollywood and a growing list of residential and master planning projects.
