Interior Design 'Pins' Alumna on Cover

A gallery installation by alumnae Emily White (M.Arch2 '06) and Lisa Little (M.Arch '06) is showcased in a recent issue of Interior Design. The cover shows White-covered in clothespins-adding final touches to the "Fat fringe" project.

White and Little, founders of Los Angeles-based design studio Layer, led a series of weekend workshops culminating in an exhibition of the paper project at the FIX Gallery in downtown Los Angeles.

The "Fat Fringe" installation was created in partnership with design research non-profit Materials & Applications and with the help of workshop volunteers.

Prototyping for Fat Fringe took place at the first of the three workshops at the Fix Gallery. […] After a die-cutter fabricated an appropriate stamp and trimmed the paper sheets, the Layer team reconvened to set up its giant fringe. Over the course of two 11-hour days at the gallery, devoted volunteers—as many as 15 at a time—assembled the installation.
