Tonight, June 13, starting 8pm, SCI-Arc faculty member Elena Manferdini will lecture on the relationship between the classical notions of "still nature" and "tableau vivant" in art at a special event hosted by Design Matters.
In a conversation with artists Venonique d’Entremont and Yoko Kanayama, Manferdini will argue that those issues are alive to this moment in architecture and its experience of space.
The discussion will be propagated by the current exhibition on view at Design Matters, "This Space is Not Empty," featuring Kanayama, d'Entremont and Manferdini.
Each artist employs a unique perspective in their examinations of space and environment. Their creative processes, from formulation to execution, will be highlighted and explored during the discussion. This event provides a rare opportunity for the viewer to better understand the creation and evolution of the art works currently on display in the gallery.
