A Chicago native, Erin came to SCI-Arc to complete her M.Arch degree in an environment that integrates a suite of resources to support her academic progress and experimentation. "I chose SCI-Arc because it has so many different things to offer that all come together under one roof in a unique and ultimately cohesive way."
She was particularly attracted by the small size of the school, which keeps students more in sync and engaged with the SCI-Arc community, as well as the school's reputation for attracting top-end faculty members. "I was interested in a program that had a comfortably sized population—both faculty and student—but still maintained a diverse and deep skill set," said Erin. "The faculty at SCI-Arc, nearly all practicing architects with their own design firms, come from a multitude of different backgrounds, including early roots with Peter Eisenman, Lebbeus Woods, Wolf Prix, Asymptote and Arup, to name a few. It was important to me that the people I would be working with on a daily basis have a strong foundation and are able to bring that to the table consistently for me to learn from and expand upon."

Erin says SCI-Arc's focus on computer applications and digital fabrication was one of the key determinants in her choosing the school. "Another reason I chose SCI-Arc is the arsenal of digital tools, fabrication devices, representation techniques, and architectural theory that fill the studios at SCI-Arc, as it always seems to be both at the heart and at the forefront of the discourse."
Recently, SCI-Arc was ranked second in design and computer applications in the 2011 America's Best Architecture Schools survey from DesignIntelligence.
