Why did you choose architecture?
My passion is the research and innovation of urban environments into affordable, pride-worthy, livable cities, characterized by sustainable, regional, raw materials. I believe that all classes of society should be able to experience the dignity, beauty and functionality of good architectural and urban design. Even as a teenager, I’ve always wanted to shape the physical environment; I’m on a mission!
Why did you choose to attend SCI-Arc?
SCI-Arc’s reputation for excellence in architectural education, leadership on the cutting-edge of design, especially for the use of computers in design is extremely enticing. The school’s progressive community of faculty and students is a magnet. It is the ideal environment to learn, grow and contribute.
What are the defining or unique characteristics of SCI-Arc students?
There are no limits to what we could dream. We are very curious, ambitious, and love to build what we dream. I think it was Harold E. Wagoner who said, “The great thing about being an architect is that you can walk into your dreams”. That’s the way I feel.
Have you been involved in projects outside of the required coursework?
Small projects here and there, but sustainability is a passion of mine, so what’s really on my mind is participating in the next round of the Solar Decathlon competition in 2013.
Talk about your summer internship experience.
My time at SCI-Arc has only just begun, so I am still looking forward to internships in the United States. Prior to coming to LA, I worked as an Intern then as an Architect abroad. I also travelled extensively at every opportunity. The best thing about my work experiences is the diversity in the work place and the variety of world views that come out of our minds and reflect themselves in our projects.
What are your plans upon graduation from SCI-Arc? How will your education at SCI-Arc help you achieve your goals in the future?
I think that combining SCI-Arc’s postgraduate degree, which focuses on urban design (and the school’s avant-garde way of thinking), my bachelor of architecture (and a modernist way of thinking) with my LEED accreditation, strategically positions me to innovate architectural and urban scale solutions. I would like to work with a progressive firm to gain some more experience and knowledge before branching out on my own.
"It's fascinating to build...and to destroy! At SCI-Arc, we all share a certain curiosity for capital A, Architecture, a will to build, and of course to discuss this whole process. " Read more >>
"I chose SCI-Arc because I felt the school could give me an educational experience unique to this institution alone, and the ability to think and create architecture in a more engaging and less traditional way."
