What is it about architecture that drives you?
My driving force in architecture is that I'm mesmerized by the combination of the logical, theoretical, mathematical and intuitive perspective of architecture. Architecture is structures, space and creativity, all that surrounds us and affects every one, thus incredibly important.

Why did you choose to attend SCI-Arc?
I wanted something to complement my undergraduate degree. I wanted to be forced out of my comfort zone, to evolve and expand in a direction that was different to what I had experienced previously.

What are the strengths of SCI-Arc’s curriculum?
I feel that the strength of the SCI-Arc curriculum is the combination of the theoretical and the exploratory side of architecture, and the vast use of new digital tools. I feel it’s a strong focus on the future, where we are heading and a considerable interest in examine new paths within the architectural field.

What are the defining or unique characteristics of SCI-Arc students?
I have never been to a place that has such diversity and I think such diversity contributes to an incredibly creative environment. Everyone brings a unique perspective on architecture.

What is your favorite studio experience?
My favorite studio experience is realizing that I needed to free myself from my preexisting conceptions of architecture and just work with, and in, the moment as it presented itself.

Have you been involved in projects outside of the required coursework?
I think that there is not a single SCI-Arc student that has not been involved in projects outside the required coursework; it is simply part of the SCI-Arc culture. I've been taking the IDD class and I was helping a thesis student to finish his thesis, quite a sobering experience as you realize exactly how much you will, and need, to learn before you will present your thesis yourself. There is so much available outside your required coursework, lectures, seminars—you name it. You could probably spend 24 hours at the school if you wanted to.

What are your plans upon graduation from SCI-Arc? How will your education at SCI-Arc help you achieve your goals in the future? I hope that my education at SCI-Arc will give me an edge that I feel I need to evolve as an architect. I think that I might be able to contribute with perhaps a slightly different mind frame than the education in Stockholm might offer, and I think that the cutting edge digital understanding that the SCI-Arc students possess will work in my favor.
