What is it about Architecture that drives you?
What drives me the most about architecture and studying architecture is the complexity in which it can be discovered. There is never a plain and simple way to look at architecture or begin to understand architecture. Every learning process encompasses hands on approaches, tireless explorations and well thought explanations. I see architecture around myself and almost always look at it, take it in, like it or criticize it, and remember why. Architecture is also so much about a relationship with formal information; the feeling you get when you step into a building, or the passion you have for creating architectural designs. I am driven by those complex connections.

Why did you choose to attend SCI-Arc?
I chose to attend SCI-Arc because of what it had to offer me and future in architecture. The concept of embracing the avant-garde at SCI-Arc is not just an idea, it is an everyday activity. I knew attending SCI-Arc would provide me with the most recent information in digital design and in theoretical practice. I have learned many new favorite programs such as AutoDesk Maya and ZBrush. SCI-Arc houses an amazing collection of faculty and an amazing outlook on experimenting with the most recent technology, so making a decision to attend was not too hard.

What are the defining or unique characteristics of SCI-Arc students?
Some of the best defining characteristics of SCI-Arc students is our dedication to learn, perseverance, and curiosity. Many times we find ourselves completely engulfed in work and our projects all together in studio. Learning is so important to everyone here that we help and teach one another selflessly. I have learned so much from just sitting at my desk in studio and listening to one-on-one help sessions. The best characteristic is that we all will work relentlessly to create the perfect mesh or to fix our renderings to have just the right amount of light no matter how many times we need to do it.

What is your favorite studio experience at SCI-Arc?
It is extremely hard to pin-point just one favorite experience but they usually all involve working really late together enjoying one another's company. Studio becomes your home in between everything else, so the people there become your family and entertainment. But, my favorite studio experience at the moment is when everyone's 3D print models finally arrived in the studio and we all welcomed them like they were our newborn babies, making sure they never left our sight.

"I chose SCI-Arc because I felt the school could give me an educational experience unique to this institution alone, and the ability to think and create architecture in a more engaging and less traditional way."
