What is it about Architecture that drives you?
My interest in architecture was fueled by my love for fashion and design. After reading more into fashion, I began to realize that there are similarities between fashion and architecture, but architectural buildings possess a permanent status in the cityscape and may bring a positive impact over many lives. I love that architecture has no boundaries and is related to different fields; it's versatile, it's enigmatic and very engaging.

Why did you choose to attend SCI-Arc?
I visited SCI-Arc before enrolling, and as cliché as it sounds, I knew I had to attend the school. I simply loved being in the building and felt SCI-Arc embodied the essence of what I wanted in a school. What struck me was the school’s very open environment where I could feel the sense of community with other students. I very much wanted to belong to that group. As of today, I'm glad I went with my gut feeling and I’m attending the school. It’s so different in terms of the campus and the way of teaching; there are always challenges and that is something I absolutely love.

What are the strengths of the SCI-Arc curriculum?
The curriculum here is excellent because it encourages interaction between our peers. We have a very “open” environment here and everyone is encouraged to talk to other students and learn from them—here you can have a first-year student learning from a third-year student and such. I also believe SCI-Arc always looks ahead; our focus on digital design tools is great to prepare me for the future and allows me to explore all possibilities in design.

What are the defining or unique characteristics of SCI-Arc students?
Pretty much every SCI-Arc student has this creative vision and strong self-motivation. Students are supremely dedicated to their work, supervising their projects so that every detail is perfected. Everyone expresses themselves differently, so there's definitely a mix of personalities. It’s so diverse here in terms of nationalities too—the culture is amazing!

What is your favorite studio experience at SCI-Arc?
Every day that I attend studio is always a great experience for me. I can't say I have a favorite; every day is unique, bringing on its challenges, its ups and downs. I can say, however, that I do look forward to the days that I have studio as is always an enriching experience for me in terms of developing my work and learning more.

What are your plans upon graduation from SCI-Arc? How will your education at SCI-Arc help you achieve your goals in the future?
I'd like to continue learning and exploring all aspects of architecture—perhaps travel to gain exposure—but ultimately I'd like to cultivate a worldly architect in myself. At SCI-Arc, we're constantly testing the limits of what architecture can do or be. Our curriculum plays on our own innovativeness and inquisitiveness that prepares us for the world outside.

"The idea that architects mold an inhabitable space drives my motivation to follow in the same footsteps."

"We are the architects of the future and SCI-Arc is the place that guides us to reach our goals as designers."

Jonathan D.C.

"The thing about Architecture that drives me is the ability to make a difference in people’s lives through the design of new architecture."

Patrice C.

"There is a certain level of permanency in architecture which I could not achieve as a classical violinist. As an architect, I will be able to expand my efforts to include not only sound but also visual expressions."

Amir M.

"Since I was a small kid, I have always wanted to be an Architect; designing and building always fascinated me. This dream never changed but the meaning of the word did. I see that in Architecture one can never stop growing."
