Why did you choose architecture?
Architecture has been an interest of mine since I was younger, starting with its ability to make a person feel a certain way based solely on the structure around them. I’ve also always appreciated architecture’s ability to have an impact on many different levels. It is a profession that provides a basic human necessity while simultaneously being a discipline that encourages a critical discourse on the academia level.
Why did you choose to attend SCI-Arc?
I chose SCI-Arc because I felt the school could give me an educational experience unique to this institution alone. The school and its facilities give students the ability to think and create architecture in a more engaging and less traditional way.
What are the strengths of the SCI-Arc curriculum?
SCI-Arc seems to contribute to not only to the profession of architecture, but also to the discipline, which gives the students at this school a unique opportunity. SCI-Arc allows students to develop a response to the critical problems of the discipline itself while also discovering new facets of the discipline.
What are the defining or unique characteristics of SCI-Arc students?
SCI-Arc students seem to possess a passion for architecture that isn’t necessarily as common in students at other institutions. This deep, insatiable interest in architecture is encouraged and fostered throughout a student’s time at the school. Also, each student seems very unique and creative in his/her own way, which then opens up an extremely diverse and interesting discussion through the work created by the students.
Describe your favorite studio experience at SCI-Arc.

Have you been involved in projects outside of the required coursework?
Helping thesis students was a great way to gain insider knowledge about the curriculum and learn about what is to be expected throughout my time at SCI-Arc. It was extremely exciting and encouraging to see the level of work being produced and to know that is where I will hopefully be 3 years from now.
What are your plans upon graduation from SCI-Arc? How will your education at SCI-Arc help you achieve your goals in the future?
Upon graduation I hope to work for a prominent architect/firm in order to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. I would then, eventually, like to start my own firm and become licensed. I feel my education at SCI-Arc will help me gain a deeper understanding of what type of architect I want to be and in what way I want to contribute to architecture. SCI-Arc will also provide me with a well-rounded education that is rich in both theory and practice.

"It's fascinating to build...and to destroy! At SCI-Arc, we all share a certain curiosity for capital A, Architecture, a will to build, and of course to discuss this whole process. " Read more >>

"A SCI-Arc student is SCI-Arc. Nothing more, nothing less. At SCI-Arc, no style is out of style, or in style. We're in a continuous state of evolution and the school is no longer today what it was yesterday."
