MediaSCAPES graduate student Shaocong Z., a native of Zhuji, China, was attracted by the new post-professional program at SCI-Arc because of its distinctive curriculum incorporating contemporary media into the practice of architecture and art. "MediaSCAPES is a combination of science and art, merging design with technology and providing a set of fundamental skills and methodology to work in this cross-disciplinary area," he says.
Shaocong believes MediaSCAPES is an ideal program for people with a design background. "It is idea-oriented, rather than being governed by technique or form; it promotes design and making at a deeper level than merely looking for cool form."
Although he's far from home, Shaocong says he feels at home at SCI-Arc. "It's a place for people who want to be different and are not afraid of being really different."
