Ink on Mirror: Closing Reception

SCI-Arc alumni are invited to attend an exhibition of recent work by SCI-Arc Graduate Program Chair Elena Manferdini. Ink on Mirror will be held in Chinatown at the residence of hosts Tom Gilmore and Coco Kristal.

Ink on Mirror is a collection of recent works developed by Elena Manferdini that explores the common ground shared by abstracted drawing and architectural production. The exhibition is the epilogue to Building Portraits, Manferdini’s solo show at Industry Gallery earlier this year. Ink on Mirror places selected drawings from the previous exhibition alongside architectural models. The models were developed by taking two-dimensional façade drawings from Building Portraits and translating them into three-dimensional forms. These works challenge the ideas of shape vs. form, ground vs. figure, patterns vs. coloration, and orientation vs. posture.
