Sharon Johnston, FAIA and Mark Lee are the founding partners of Johnston Marklee, based in Los Angeles, CA. Since its establishment in 1998, Johnston Marklee has been internationally recognized with over 50 major awards, including the Richard Neutra Award for Professional Excellence and the American Academy of Arts & Letters Award in Architecture. Projects undertaken by Johnston Marklee are diverse in scale and type, spanning fourteen countries throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Notable projects include the permanent home for the Whitney Museum’s Independent Study Program at Roy Lichtenstein Studio in New York; the UCLA Margo Leavin Graduate Art Studios in Culver City; a renovation of the MCA Chicago; and the Menil Drawing Institute in Houston. Monographs on the firm’s work include El Croquis N.198, 2G N.67, A+U N.614, and the book, HOUSE IS A HOUSE IS A HOUSE IS A HOUSE IS A HOUSE, published by Birkhäuser.
