SCI-Arc Launches Accelerated Master of Science Programs

SCI-Arc is pleased to announce the launch of its new Accelerated Master of Science (M.S.) programs, expanding opportunities for professional degree students to pursue highly specialized, forward-thinking research within architecture and design.

Winka Dubbeldam, Director and CEO, sees the Dual Degree initiative as the next evolution of SCI-Arc's educational mission. As architectural practice is transformed by artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, environmental challenges, and interdisciplinary collaboration, she believes architectural education must evolve alongside it.

The Accelerated M.S. is structured as a dual-degree track, allowing students enrolled in SCI-Arc’s Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) or Master of Architecture (M.Arch) programs to apply coursework from their final term toward the Master of Science degree. This streamlined format reduces the total time required to complete both degrees while maintaining the depth and intensity of SCI-Arc’s academic experience.

Students can complete the M.S. degree in one additional year (two semesters), gaining a competitive edge through focused study in one of several specialized areas. Current Master of Science programs at SCI-Arc include:

• M.S. Architectural Intelligence: AI, Platforms, Automation – Explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and design, with students developing radical applications of emerging technology in architectural practice.
• M.S. Fiction and Entertainment – Developed in collaboration with professionals in the media industry, focusing on worldbuilding, storytelling, and production for entertainment and speculative design.
• M.S. Synthetic Landscapes – Addresses emerging challenges in contemporary ecological design, examining new, more symbiotic relationships between architecture and nature.
• M.S. Design Theory & Pedagogy – Prepares future educators to shape architectural discourse and serves as a precursor to SCI-Arc's forthcoming PhD program in architecture and design.

The Accelerated Master of Science Programs are open to current SCI-Arc students to apply and incoming applicants to confirm interest. Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year open August 3, 2026.
