(as approved by the Board on April 21, 2023)

The Board of Trustees of Southern California Institute of Architecture (“SCI-Arc”) is pleased to enact this Whistleblower Policy in the interests of preserving the integrity and well-being of SCIArc, and to encourage reports of suspected serious violations of law or ethical violations by a SCI-Arc trustee, administrator, or faculty member.

By way of example, complaints may be submitted alleging abuse of authority, conflict of interest, or breach of fiduciary duty such that may result in civil or criminal liability, a threat to SCI-Arc’s accreditation or non-profit status, or a danger to the health or safety of individuals.

Any member of the broader SCI-Arc community -- including SCI-Arc employees, students, and alumni – may submit a whistleblower complaint.

Complaints are to be submitted to SCI-Arc’s General Counsel, Jack P. Lipton, Ph.D., Esq., at: jlipton@bwslaw.com.

Complaints will be investigated by SCI-Arc staff or by an independent investigator as appropriate.

Anonymous complaints will not be considered, but confidentiality will be maintained to the extent practical.

There will be no retaliation against anyone who submits a whistleblower complaint in good faith.

This Policy replaces and supersedes SCI-Arc’s prior Employee Protection Policy.
